Formworks have been the backbone of the construction industry for centuries. From the early Roman Empire temples, citadels, and palaces, to the modern-day museums, bridges, and multi-storeyed apartments, formwork has remained a critical part of construction. However, the materials used for making the formworks have changed drastically. Here is how formworks evolved with time to assume its latest form. Timber Forms Initially, timber forms were the most widely used and the only alternatives available for construction works. Manufacturing timber forms involved the felling of trees which resulted in a massive loss of green cover. Additionally, continuous exposure to sunlight and rain depleted the timber form quite fast. Therefore, a timber form was not fit for multiple uses. Metal Forms When the number of construction works increased over time, people switched to metal formworks. Compared to timber forms, metal alternatives are durable and more weather-resistant. However, exp
