Modern Formwork System

Modern formwork systems feature a speed of erection, safety, cost-effectiveness, and versatility. Wooden scantlings and timber runners were used in the first formwork systems because they allowed for easy shaping and building on site. However, with time and with frequent use, these wooden scantlings and timber runners lose their structural and dimensional qualities, causing safety concerns. Because of poor formwork and scaffolding, many accidents occur in the Reinforced Cement Concrete building industry.   Although it is not always simple to implement architectural concepts, there is a growing trend in modern architecture for imaginative and organic shapes. Concrete, in theory, is the ideal material for creating a wide range of forms since new concrete can be poured into any formwork shape. Traditional formworks, on the other hand, are rigid and straight-lined, resulting in flat walls and rectangular beams or columns.   For more organic design, these concrete shuttering form

Introduction to Formworks in Construction

In construction, formworks or shutters are mould structures in which concrete is poured so that it gets support while its hardened. When the strength of the concrete poured reaches the required levels to hold its own weight, the forms are taken out. So a formwork works as a frame of a temporary or permanent structure into which concrete is poured and given a particular shape.   What are the things to be considered for a good formwork? ●         It must be strong enough to bear the loads that come with the construction process. ●         Formwork joints must be tough to maintain sagging, twisting and bulging due to load actions in the minimal level to prevent disfigurement on the concrete surface. ●         Formwork should be easy to detach for repeated use and minimize damage costs. ●         Lines in the formwork must be sharp and smooth so that concrete surface is neat after the removal of the shutter.   Currently plastic formwork is the new age formwork in constru
